György Varga, the new Ambassador of Hungary to Moldova, today handed the letters of accreditation to Moldova’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Andrei Stratan, Info-Prim Neo reports, citing a press release from MFA. During the meeting, the collocutors remarked the advanced degree of the political dialogue between the two countries, expressing willingness to diversify the areas of the mutually advantageous collaboration. The visits by Hungary’s President and Speaker to Chisinau, planned to take place in autumn, will greatly contribute to the development of the cooperation between the two countries in various domains, it was said at the meeting. At the same time, the Moldovan official noted the efforts made by Hungary in ensuring the smooth functioning of the Chisinau-based Joint Visa Center, joined by more and more European countries, which proves the success of this European Union project. György Varga has stated that the Republic of Moldova is always under the consideration of Hungary’s foreign policy, both on the bilateral level and inside the European Union. The presence of Hungary’s representatives in Moldova – the EUBAM Head of Mission, the EU’s Special Representative for the Republic of Moldova, the prime-ministerial advisor on European integration matters – is a practical confirmation of the plenary support of the official Budapest for Moldova’s European integration aspiration. The two diplomats also discussed the future of the Moldo-EU relationship and the meeting of the Moldova-EU Cooperation Council, due to be held on May 27 in Brussels. A separate subject was the Transnistrian issue.
