Moldova Business Week 2022 - the event that promotes the Republic of Moldova as an investment destination – was launched in Chisinau. The Moldovan authorities assure the potential investors that Moldova offers tax concessions and labor force to them. A training center will be soon opened in Chisinau to train as many specialists as possible, IPN reports.
In the opening of the event, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița said that despite the regional challenges, the Republic of Moldova remains a favorable destination for foreign investors. “I’m glad that we built and continue to build reliable bridges with the business community. During the past two years alone, we managed to attract a number of investment projects from such countries as Belgium, the Netherlands, Turkey, the U.S., Germany, Lithuania, and the UK. Such areas as information and communication technology, outsourcing, research and development, production of electronic equipment and renewable energy become very attractive to investors,” stated the official.
She noted that the authorities encourage investment by simplifying the process of starting a business and offering access to the necessary infrastructure. “The EU candidate country status obtained by the Republic of Moldova on June 23 is an impetus to our development and progress. We will continue implementing advanced solutions to digitize the economy, to promote electronic trade and will regulate the fiscal normative framework where it is necessary. We permanently review the existing requirements and eliminate the burden of state inspections and unjustified penalties. We optimize interaction between businesses and the authorities, including by digitizing processes and relations between businesses, authorities and citizens so as to make it possible to start and run businesses remotely,” said Premier Gavrilița.
To attract foreign investors to Moldova, the authorities decided to design a platform for training qualified specialists. “The Engineering College trains technicians, foremen. The skilled labor force, especially the technical one, is the key to success in the process of attracting new investors. The largest training center will be opened soon in Chisinau. Initially, it will have two divisions: metal processing and plastic injection molding. Owing to GIZ, which offered us half a million euros, we purchased from the U.S. the newest 5-axis CNC machines. With USAID, we signed an agreement for US$ 1 million that will be invested in this center,” said the director of the Investment Agency Marin Ciobanu.
U.S. Ambassador to Moldova Kent Doyle Logsdon said that the United States will further support projects to develop and modernized the country, which can accelerate the European integration process. “This year, the U.S. and Moldova celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. In the period, we have worked with the people of Moldova, the government, the private sector and civil society so as to help build a democratic, prosperous and safe country. Since 1992, the American people have provided over US$1.8 billion in foreign assistance to Moldova,” stated the diplomat.
Moldova Business Week 2022 held during September 15-16 brings together decision makers and national and foreign experts whose goal is to promote the Republic of Moldova as an investment destination.
