The Republic of Moldova and Hungary will improve cooperation in the food safety, animal health and phytosanitary sectors. A memorandum of understanding to this effect between the ministries of agriculture of the two states was approved by the Government of Moldova, IPN reports.

The memorandum is valid for a five-year period and was signed in Budapest on December 5, 2016. Among others, the document envisions the adjustment of the national standards to the EU sanitary-veterinary and phytosanitary standards. This will enable to extend the categories of agricultural products exported to the EU.

The memorandum will also stimulate the relations of cooperation within EU and regional organizations’ assistance programs and mechanisms, it is said in a press release of the Government’s press service.
