For the first time, Moldova hosts the reunion of the Multinational Advisory Group (MAG), the 19th one. Representatives of this decision-making forum of the Regional Arms Control Verification and Implementation Assistance Center (RACVIAC) discuss the new structure and personnel policy of the organization and the status of its member-countries. As the Info-Prim Neo agency reports, the Regional Arms Control Verification and Implementation Assistance Center (RACVIAC) was created within the Stability Pact, the goal of which is strengthening peace, democracy, human rights and economy in South-Eastern Europe. Ambassador Nedžad Hadžimusić, the RACVIAC director, told a news conference on Thursday, April 10, that the mission had the goal to promote the dialog and the cooperation on security issues in South-Eastern Europe through a partnership of the countries in the area with international partners. Insuring security and the principles of controlling the armament on the Moldovan territory are the benefits the country gets from the RACVIAC partnership, said the commander of the National Army, and the head of the Great Staff, brigade general Ion Coropcean. He believes Moldova’s image in the area of defense and security will be promoted on the international arena, especially during 2008 when the country will chair the MAG of the RACVIAC. Moldova has committed to organize a series of events on security, relevant for the reorganization of the regional initiatives from South-Eastern Europe. RACVIAC’s annual program envisages over 30 activities: conferences, seminars, training courses. It has a budget of 800,000 euros. Moldova joined the RACVIAC regional initiative as a full member in 2004, paying a yearly membership fee of 10,000 euros. The 19th reunion of the Multinational Advisory Group joins circa 70 representatives of 30 countries.
