The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry during several months has been offered assistance by the European adviser Waldemar Sochaczewski, vice director of the Agricultural Market Agency of the Polish Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. According to the Moldovan Minister of Agriculture Valeriu Cosarciuc, the European expert together with the Ministry's division heads already identified the major problems in Moldova's agricultural sector. “Among the priorities are the work of the sector group for the association agreement with the EU, the country's food security, the launch of the Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture, strengthening the agricultural market and statistics supervision service and creating the market infrastructure,” Valeriu Cosarciuc told Info-Prim Neo. Emphasis is laid on the creation of agricultural markets and packing centers and on the quality of the agricultural products. “We want to be accepted into the EU market. The quality of the exported products must meet the EU standards,” the minister said. The Polish adviser has rich experience and knowledge in the field, said Valeriu Cosarciuc. Poland reached the highest development level in agriculture among the former Socialist states. Waldemar Sochaczewski said Moldova has enormous potential for sustainable development in agriculture and his aim is to help Moldova realize this potential so that it becomes part of the EU as soon as possible. Waldemar Sochaczewski forms part of the EU High Level Policy Advice Mission to Moldova, which consists of 9 international experts selected from 400 candidates. It will start work on May 1 (Waldemar Sochaczewski came earlier – e.n.). The experts will work at the Prime Minister’s Office, State Chancellery, the Ministries of Economy, Finance, Justice, Interior, Agriculture and Food Industry, Tax Inspectorate and Public Procurement Agency.
