Moldova has a singer with golden voice

Moldovan young singer Irina Costina became the ‘golden voice’ of 2009. She was awarded the Top Prize at the first edition of the Golden Voices international pop music contest held as part of the 43rd edition of Martisor 2009 festival, Info-prim Neo reports. Irina Costina is a second-year student at the Academy of Theatrical Arts in Moscow. She said she had a lot of responsibilities at the faculty, but bought a ticket to come home without delay. “I was determined to take part in the contest as I had the responsibility to represent my country at home,” Irina said. Besides diploma and the trophy, the Top Prize offered to Irina Costina included 10,000 dollars that the young singer does not yet know how she will spend. But she said she would invest it in her musical career. The organizers also awarded two First Prizes worth 5,000 dollars each to Armenia’s Lusine Agabechean and Moldova’s Aliona Triboi. Another two singers from Moldova, Victoria Eftodienco and Nicoleta Nuca, won the Second Prize of 3,000 dollars each. The Third Prize of 2,000 dollars went to Victor Balan from Moldova, Mlodico Patishvili from Georgia and Victoria Linskaia from Russia. Twenty young singers, eight out of whom from Moldova, competed in the final. Under the regulations of the contest, the finalists sang by two songs chosen by them. The pre-selection for the semifinal took place on February 15, while the semifinal on March 8. At a news conference before the final, Russian singer of Georgian origin Soso Pavliashvili, who was the special invitee of the contest and the co-president of the jury, said that the young singers were talented and advised them to be more sincere and expressive on the stage. “It is wonderful that these young people prefer to sing and not go on wrong paths in life, but they should not only participate in the contest, but also assert themselves afterward,” the guest said Alexandr Tihonovici, member of the jury from Belarus, pointed to the international character of the contest, while Andrei Contur, Russian singer and composer, confessed that it was hard for him to choose the winner because all the contenders proved artistic talent. The international pop music contest Golden Voices was organized by the center of culture Elat in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Moldova.
