There are about 10,000 people in Moldova who can afford a small jet. The statement was made during the press conference “General aviation in Moldova” by Roman Podcoratov, director general of the Chisinau International Airport, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“More than 10,000 persons in Moldova have an income of over €200,000. Of course, they can fully afford buying a €100,000 jet, keeping the plane in the Chisinau Airport and using its services, flying to regional airports and developing them”, said Roman Podcoratov.
According to the director of the Chisinau International Airport, general aviation is only at its beginning in Moldova. The sector will develop and lead to healthy competition on the market. People who can afford small jets of 5-7 places can open a business and offer services.
“So, if the person has a plane, founds a company and provides services, the competition grows and the whole industry of aviation is running: the flight school, the airport, the regional airports, and the jet provider”, explained Podcoratov.
He added that according to the airport experts’ prediction, two other business jets will be bought in Moldova in 2012. There only one plane of this kind in Moldova. “We know two clients that are searching. They signed an agreement and we’ll have three business jets”, said the airport director.
An exhibition of small jets was organized at the Chisinau International Airport on Sunday, September 25. The goal of the event was to present various types of planes to the public.
