Moldova goes up in FIFA rankings

The national football team of Moldova climbed to the 161st spot in the FIFA world rankings with 154 points, up from the 165th position a month ago. The rankings for this month were released on September 15, IPN reports.

The Moldovan Football Federation said the team trained by Igor Dobrovolski is to meet Serbia and Ireland in Chisinau, within the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying round, on October 6 and 9.

Among Moldova’s opponents in Group D of the 2018 World Cup qualifying competition, Wales has the best position – 10th. Austria ranks 26th, Ireland – 31st, Serbia – 50th, while Georgia – 137th.

The FIFA rankings are topped by Argentina, which is followed by Belgium and Germany.

The next rankings will be made public on October 20.
