Moldova gets silver and bronze at Special Olympics World Games

The national team of Moldova won a silver medal and one bronze at the Special Olympics World Games in Shanghai, China. The Special Olympics World Games is a biennial event that brings together athletes with intellectual disabilities.
According to Anatolie Cojocari, executive director of Special Olympics Moldova, our country was represented by 11 athletes who participated in two events – seven-a-side football and 50 metre freestyle swim.
The football team won the third place in the competition, while Anastasia Chiseliova got the silver medal at swimming, Anatolie Cojocari specified.
Founded in 1968 in Washington, Special Olympics is an international organisation that currently serves 2.5 million people with intellectual disabilities in about 170 countries.
The first Special Olympics World Games were held in Chicago, USA in July 1968.
