The Academy of Sciences of Moldova (ASM) signed a memorandum of intentions on scientific and technological cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Education and Research of Germany, Info-Prim reports, quoting a press release from the Academy. The memorandum was signed in Bonn by the ASM president, academician Gheorghe Duca and the director within the Federal Ministry of Education and Research Michael Schlicht. The German Ministry proposed initiating new one-year joint projects in the area. It will contribute up to 25,000 euros to one project, while the ASM Supreme Council for Science and Technological Development will put in up to 10,000 euros. There will be no more than 15 projects. They will represent the first phase of promoting the bilateral cooperation. If the projects are successful, new projects with a larger budget will be proposed for the second stage. In another development, it was stressed that the Moldovan young researchers that would be involved in the projects in Germany could obtain grants when retuning to Moldova, after the projects are implemented. The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation expressed readiness to financially support the organization of joint scientific symposiums in continuation. The working meeting of representatives of the two institutions took place on the initiative of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
