The Convention for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and Prevention of Tax Evasion between Moldova and Georgia was signed during Prime Minister Pavel Filip’s visit to Tbilisi on November 29, IPN reports.
According to the Government’s press service, the document is designed to support the development of cooperation relations between the business communities and to stimulate investments in the economies of the two states. A forum of Moldovan and Georgian businesspeople is to be held in Chisinau next year.
There was also signed a protocol of cooperation between the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research of Moldova and the Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia for 2018-2021. This envisions the development of interuniversity relations, encouragement of academic mobility of students and teachers and joint participation in European research and innovation programs.
While in Tbilisi, Pavel Filip had a meeting with his Georgian counterpart Giorgi Kvirikashvili. The Premiers discussed possibilities of developing cooperation in the commercial-economic, cultural-humanitarian and tourism sectors, noting that Moldova and Georgia have common priorities in their relations with the EU and should share their experience and good practices. “We agreed to better cooperate in this regard. Together we will be a bigger force and this thing will help us achieve the set objectives,” stated Pavel Filip.
He invited Giorgi Kvirikashvili to pay a visit to Moldova. The Premiers also agreed to stage the Moldovan Culture Days in Tbilisi and the Georgian Culture Days in Chisinau in the future.
