Moldova, Georgia join efforts in covering path of European integration

The close and consolidated ties between the Republic of Moldova and Georgia during 25 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the possibilities of advancing the Moldovan-Georgian cooperation at bilateral level and within international organizations were discussed in a meeting of Prime Minister Pavel Filip and Parliament Speaker of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze in Tbilisi. The two officials said the Eastern Partnership Summit held in Brussels showed that Moldova and Georgia have common views and objectives concerning the improvement of the relations with the EU, IPN reports.

Pavel Filip and Irakli Kobakhidze stressed the importance of resolving the territorial conflicts by political ways, expressing mutual support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the two states. In this connection, the Moldovan Premier underlined the importance of regional solidarity in settling frozen conflicts.

The officials also said that trade between the two states in the first eight months of this year rose by 22%. In this regard, there was highlighted the importance of the activity of the Moldovan-Georgian intergovernmental commission for commercial-economic cooperation that is a good platform for removing the barriers to economic cooperation.

Also, Pavel Filip and Irakli Kobakhidze confirmed the interest in opening the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Georgia.
