Moldova-Film to start making feature film “Wolfs and Gods” under the direction of Alexandru Vasilachi

The viewers in Chisinau will be the first to watch the new production of Moldova-Film Studio – the full-length feature film “Wolfs and Gods” directed by Alexandru Vasilachi, the studio’s director general Ion Siman told Info-Prim Neo. According to the cited source, the shooting will start this month. The exact date is not known yet, but the works will start not later than September 22. “Wolfs and Gods” is a historical film that features the zones of the region and the people that lived here about 2,600 years ago. The works will last for about two months, including 40 days of shooting. Most of the scenes will be filmed in nature, in the most picturesque settings near the Nistru and in Calarasi district. Though the film is financed from public resources, Siman avoided mentioning the film’s budget, saying that it is too small for a full-length film and that the actors that accepted to perform will receive an honorarium that is three-fourfold lower than on the market. Siman also said that Moldova-Film will save over a million lei during filming as it will use a large part of the studio’s props. The cast will include 20 actors, except for the mass scenes. A week before the shooting, not all the parts were distributed. Director Alexandru Vasilachi told Info-Prim Neo that the casting has not yet been completed because the shooting was postponed for technical reasons and many of the actors that agreed to perform cannot do it anymore as they have other commitments. After the melodrama "Jana" made in 2004, “Wolfs and Gods” will be the second full-length feature film produced by Moldova-Film in the last 15 years.
