The Moldova-Film Studio has been made ineligible for privatization under an amendment to the Public Property Law unanimously adopted at the latest Parliament's sitting, Info-Prim Neo reports. Liberal MP Gheorghe Brega, the author of the legislative proposal, said the amendment was needed in order to put an end and prevent any further attempt to denationalize the “only valuable asset” of Moldova's film-making industry. According to Gheorghe Brega, earlier there existed several attempts to privatize Moldova-Film by the former leadership of the Ministry of Culture, when it was headed by Artur Cozma, with the Studio's price being deliberately deflated almost tenfold. MP Brega claims that there was a scheme involving a shadow firm called Arta Cinema, whose address coincided with that of Moldova-Film. And when Parliament in 2007 adopted a list of public companies ineligible for privatization, curiously enough, Moldova-Film wasn't included there while Arta Cinema was.
