The Cooperation Council between Moldova and the European Union approved the Association Agenda in Brussels on June 26, one day before the signing of the Association Agreement between the two sides, IPN reports, quoting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration.
The Association Agenda defines a set of priorities agreed for the period between 2014 and 2016, which are aimed at preparing the implementation of the Association Agreement, including the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement.
The Association Agenda replaces the Moldova –EU Plan of Action signed on February 22, 2005, within the European Neighborhood Policy.
The agenda incorporates political elements, including of political dialog, the reform for strengthening the democratic institutions, the rule of law, the independence of justice, the respect for the human rights, cooperation in the security and foreign policy area, and envisions the peaceful settlement of conflicts and cooperation in the justice sector. It also includes economic and commercial elements and envisions sector cooperation in the energy, transport, employment and social protection spheres.
