Moldova-EU agreement on freight road transport liberalization extended

The agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union on the liberalization of carriage of freight by road was extended until June 30, 2024, Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spînu, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, posted in social media.

According to the official, this agreement will enable the carriers of Moldova to travel in the EU space without permits. “This is an important step that will facilitate the export of our products. I thank my mate Mircea Păscăluță, secretary of state responsible for transport, for this result,” wrote Andrei Spînu.

Mircea Păscăluță today took part in the 18th meeting of the Regional Steering Committee of the Transport Community (TCT). He said that a number of annual and progress reports were presented in the meeting, including on the implementation of the Dangerous Goods Regulations, and the Strategy for Sustainable and Smart Mobility for the Western Balkans 2022.

“I thanked the participants for the joint declaration adopted this November as a result of which the Republic of Moldova obtained the status of observer of the Transport Community together with Ukraine and Georgia. The Ministry’s team is agreeing the objectives and steps that Moldovan needs to take as an observer so as to contribute to achieving the common objectives within the TCT,” he posted on Facebook.

The agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union on the liberalization of carriage of freight by road was signed on June 30, 2022.
