The decisive point was brought by Radu Albot. Moldova’s best tennis player lost the first two sets to the top player of Belarus Egor Gherasimov, but then recovered in the next sets, winning by 3-6, 1-6, 6-3, 6-1, 6-2.
“I never give up. I play up to the last point. I brought the decisive point to Moldova and I’m very happy,” Radu Albot said after the game
In the fifth game, Maxim Dubarenco defeated Dmitri Jirmont 7-6, 7-6. Moldova lost to Belarus only in the doubles.
In the Europe/Africa Zone Group II third round, Moldova plays Denmark, whose best-ranked Frederik Nielsen is the 741st in the ATP rankings. The duel between Denmark and Moldova will take place on September 12-14, most probably in Copenhagen. The winner qualifies for the Europe/Africa Zone Group I.
