Moldova e-Gov Summit 2010 opened in Chisinau today under the theme “Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for a Better Governance”. ICT Minister Alexandru Oleinic said in his opening speech the summit aims to ensure an efficient exchange of experience in the implementation of information technology in e-government areas, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“The implementation of new information technologies will improve access to quality services, will strengthen the intellectual skills of the people and will ensure competitiveness regionally and globally”, said Alexandru Oleinic.
According to the minister, electronic governance should be implemented by massively attracting private companies of all sizes, including through public-private partnerships, which are crucial for a sustainable development of the e-government.
“We have high expectations of the summit in Chisinau. We firmly believe that e-governance will be the catalyst to usher our society into the digital era. We believe that e-healthcare will improve the quality and accessibility of medical services; we believe that e-education will strengthen the intellectual capacities of the nation and ensure our competitiveness regionally and globally. All e-Services should satisfy impeccably the needs of the citizen”, said Alexandru Oleinic.
Moldovan Prime Minister Vlad Filat said in his speech that e-governance is part of the Government's vision of how to modernize and reform public administration. “This process allows us the opportunity to create a transparent, effective and responsible government”.
The summit brings together representatives from 16 countries, the World Bank and UN agencies.
