The national football team of Moldova tied 0-0 a friendly game against Russia’s team played in Chisinau. The match was played in the absence of spectators owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, IPN reports.

Goalkeeper Stanislav Namashko, who now plays for the Azeri team Kesla, was the hero of the first half of the game, thwarting the kicks of Alexei Miranchuk and Fedor Chalov. In the second half, the Russian players were more dangerous. Jirkov and Sobolev missed the gate within a distance of millimeters, while Alexei Miranchuk hit the bar with a free kick.

”We played against a powerful team. I’m glad that we learned the October lesson and played exemplarily on defense. I think we deserved this draw,” said Moldova manager Engin Firat.

Moldova is to now play two matches of the UEFA Nations League – against Greece at home on November 15 and against Kosovo away on November 18.
