Moldova delegation to pay official visit to Azerbaijan

A Moldovan delegation, headed by Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev will pay an official visit to Azerbaijan on February 22 and 23. According to the visit agenda, the Moldovan PM will have a meeting with his counterpart, Artur Rasi-Zade and will participate in the plenary session of the Intergovernmental Moldova-Azerbaijan Committee for Economic Cooperation.
The same day, the members of the delegation will meet Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliev. The delegation includes Minister of Economy and Commerce Igor Dodon, Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Vladimir Antosii, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Eugenia Chistruga, Moldova’s Ambassador in Baku Ion Robu, and Senior State Advisor on Foreign Cooperation Alexandru Prigorschi.
On the second day of the visit, a Business Forum will take place and the PM will meet with Speaker of Azeri Parliament Oktay Asadov.
According to the agenda, Vasile Tarlev is expected to visit the Sangachalsk oil terminal, the premises of the Moldovan Embassy in Azerbaijan and will meet a group of Azeri businessmen and the members of the Association “Azeri-Moldovan cultural relations”. The delegation will also visit the tomb of the Azeri national leader Heidar Aliev and the Shekhid’s Alley (dedicated to the fallen heroes) where he will lay wraths.
In 2006, Moldovan goods exports to Azerbaijan reached USD 4.7 mln, and imports – USD 1.8 mln. In 2005 this indicators stood at USD 3.7 mln and USD 4.5 mln respectively.
