Moldova defeated by Romania in Orhei

Moldova’s Under-19 football team lost the second friendly match with Romania by 0-1. The Moldovan footballers failed to take advantage of two opportunities in the 25th and 65th minutes, when Constantin Iavorschi and Anatol Cheptene were close to scoring goals. The only goal of the match was scored by Maxim Rusu in the 32nd minute as a result of a running phase that ended rather pragmatically. The coach of Moldova’s junior team Vlad Goian said that the changes he made did not improve the game. Yet, he followed the performance of some players that could be chosen for the official matches. Between September 6 and 9, Moldova will play two friendly matches with the Swiss Under-19 team in Switzerland. These games will be a preparatory stage for the preliminaries of the 2009 European Championship.
