The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration describes the statements made by the deputy minister of foreign affairs of the Russian Federation Andrey Rudenko, about the intentions to strengthen the capacities of the so-called mobile consular unit in Tiraspol, which works without the consent of the Moldovan authorities, as regrettable, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the Ministry.

According to the document, the Ministry took note of the statements made by deputy minister Andrey Rudenko for the press in Tiraspol on February 16, 2022.

“The tone and accents of the public messages of the Russian diplomat cause profound disappointment. The given approaches of the Russian deputy minister go against the Russian Federation’s official position concerning the support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country. We remind the Russian side of the necessity of strictly complying with the rigors of the Vienna Conventions on diplomatic relations and on consular relations,” runs the press release.

The deputy minister of foreign affairs of the Russian Federation Andrey Rudenko paid a visit to Chisinau, leading a delegation that took part in the ordinary round of Moldovan-Russian inter-ministerial political consultations. In a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, the officials conferred on the Transnistrian settlement process, underlining the common interest in the resumption of the talks in the 5+2 format. There was also reiterated the Moldovan authorities’ position about the necessity of resuming the pullout of the Russian troops and the disposal of the munitions stored at the ammunition depot in Cobasna.
