The national football team of Moldova climbed three spots to the 156th in the FIFA rankings for this month released on September 14, IPN reports.
The team trained by Igor Dobrovolski is to play against Ireland in Dublin on October 6 and against Austria in Chisinau on October 9 within the qualifying competition of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Among Moldova’s opponents in Group D of the qualification campaign, Wales has the best position – 13th. Serbia ranks 32nd, Ireland – 34th, Austria – 57th, while Georgia – 103rd.
The FIFA rankings are topped by Germany, which is followed by Brazil and Portugal. The next rankings will be made public on October 16.
