The national football team of Moldova is again among the top 100 squads of the world. In the new FIFA rankings released on April 10, the ‘tricolors’ take the 99th position with 325 points, IPN reports.
Also on April 10, it became known that Moldova will not play a friendly against South Korea. The Asians sent a letter to the Moldovan Football Federation, announcing that they will meet another opponent. Negotiations are still held with Cameroon and Columbia for playing a friendly on June 7.
The team trained by Ion Caras will play the next matches on May 24, against Saudi Arabia, which is the 75th in the FIFA rankings, and on May 27, against Canada, which is the 110th.
Among Moldova’s rivals in the UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying competition, Russia takes the best position in the FIFA rankings – 18th. Sweden comes 25th, Austria – 40th, Montenegro – 54th, while Liechtenstein – 149th.
Spain holds the lead, followed by Germany and Portugal. The next rankings will be released on May 8, 2014.
