The Republic of Moldova and the People’s Republic of China mark 25 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations. On the occasion of the diplomatic anniversary, the National Library “Vasile Alecsandri” mounted an exhibition of books about the civilization, history and philosophy of China and an exhibition of decorative elements related to the Festival of Spring, the latter one being staged by representatives of the Embassy of China in Moldova, IPN reports.

China’s Ambassador to Moldova Zhang Yinghong said 25 years ago China was among the first states that recognized the independence and sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova, while the relations of friendship established then have been constantly strengthened, especially in the humanitarian sector.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Lilian Darii said the People’s Republic of China is an important investor in the Moldovan economy. He assured that the authorities will make effort to create new opportunities for the business community of Moldova so that the Moldovan businesspeople reach the Chinese market.

Secretary of State at the Ministry of Culture Andrei Chistol noted that a number of important Moldovan-Chinese cooperation projects have been implemented during the last few years, while the presence of Chinese artists at the Festival “Martsishor” became a tradition.

Also today, January 30, a stamp designed by Moldova’s Post Office was launched in an event at the National Library. Entitled “25 years of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and the People’s Republic of China”, the stamp is put on the envelope with a special drawing that includes a number of states with which the Republic of Moldova signed agreements to establish diplomatic relations in 1992.

In a press release, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration says that First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Galbur and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Wang Yi exchanged congratulatory messages on the occasion of the diplomatic anniversary. In his message to his Chinese counterpart, the Moldovan official says the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Moldovan-Chinese diplomatic relations is an additional occasion for pondering on the current accomplishments and planning new initiatives for the future, in the spirit of solid friendship, close relations and excellent inter-human contacts.

For his part, Wang Yi said the bilateral relations develop swiftly and stably, the political confidence between the two states increases continuously, cooperation in all the areas expands more intensely, while the ties between the two peoples become closer.

The diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China were established on January 30, 1992. China’s Embassy in Chisinau was inaugurated in June 1992, while Moldova’s Embassy in Beijing was opened in March 1996.
