Moldova and China are considering possibilities of facilitating the tourist visa issuing procedures and of optimizing the required package of documents in order to boost tourism and Chinese investments in Moldova. The subject was discussed in the third round of Moldovan-Chinese consultations on consular affairs between representatives of the foreign ministries of the two states, IPN has learned from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova.

The sides agreed to extend the bilateral consular agenda by exchanging experience in ensuring the functioning and interaction of consular services. Increased attention was paid to the updating of the legal basis on consular affairs and legal assistance. In this connection, the sides underlined the necessity of further developing the Moldovan-Chinese dialogue in the area of consular affairs.

The officials also assessed the results of the previous round of consultations held in Chisinau. It was noted that the visas for holders of Moldovan diplomatic and service passports in 2013 were eliminated for the Special Administrative Region Hong-Kong and for holders of ordinary Moldovan passports for the Special Administrative Region Macao. The holders of passports issued by the two Chinese regions were exempted from the needs to apply for short-stay visas for Moldova.

The next round of consultations will take place in Chisinau in 2015.
