As Moldova celebrates the National Flag Day on April 27, a ceremony will be held outside the Government building, attended by the country’s leadership: President Maia Sandu, Prime Minister Dorin Recean, and Speaker Igor Grosu.
“Our Tricolor is a major official symbol of our country’s sovereignty and independence. The authorities have prepared some actions dedicated to this event and each of us can contribute to the effort of cohesion and respect for the Tricolor, by promoting the national flag. Let me take this occasion to encourage the public to honor the flag and fly it either at work or at home”, said the Government’s spokesperson Daniel Vodă.
The ceremony outside the Government building’s main entrance is scheduled to start at 9:00. The event will include performances by the Presidential Orchestra, the Guard of Honor, the Fulger Special Operations Battalion, the Ștefan cel Mare Academy of Police and children’s choirs from all over the country.
The ceremony will be broadcast live by Moldova 1 and live-streamed on the Government’s Facebook account.
The blue-yellow-red tricolor was declared the National Flag of the Republic of Moldova on 27 April 1990 by the first Parliament. In 2010, Parliament declared April 27 as the National Flag Day and also the Day of the National Coat of Arms.
