It is naïve to say that the European road for Moldova is irreversible. Only after Moldova covers all the three stages – initialing, signing and ratification of the Association Agreement – can we say that a juridical relation was established with the EU. Between initialing and signing, Moldova can face many challenges, both internal and external, said political analyst Vasile Croitoru, quoted by IPN.

In the special program “The Vilnius Summit” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, the analyst mentioned the example of Ukraine, which initialed the Association Agreement in 2011 and suspended the process of preparing for the signing of the accord before the Vilnius Summit. “I saw that very great pressure has been exerted on Ukraine since summer, both at internal and foreign levels. We cannot exclude a similar scenario in Moldova. We must learn the lesson of Ukraine so as to be able to deal with such pressure,” stated Vasile Croitoru.

“I’m sure that the European Union will be much more attentive towards the EaP countries. They should not exaggerate. The EU built an image. It is a center of power that offers concessions and opportunities. If it puts pressure, it will be to its detriment,” said the analyst.

Economic expert Vitalie Rapcea said that Moldova overcame the puberty period and entered the stage of political and economic maturity. “The assumption of commitments entails a mature approach for achieving the goals, a transparent economic environment and fair justice. It is hard to ensure such conditions and hard years will follow. We must work as this is the only way that can lead us to better life,” he stated.

In the Vilnius EaP Summit, Moldova initialed the Association Agreement with the EU that envisions the creation of a Free Trade Area.
