“Democracy and freedom are the values that make people’s lives better. The road to the EU covered by Poland was considered a successful one. That’s why we are ready to share our experience and are very glad when other states succeed in achieving better results than we,” Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said in the EU – Moldova Forum that is taking place in Chisinau between March 29 and 31, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Polish official stressed that the people and politicians who believe in the European Union’s extension, are courageous and work for the country where they live so that it becomes a member of the European family are the EU’s hope. “They speak about the EU’s enlargement in Berlin and in Paris. The EU needs Moldova and Moldova needs the EU. I wish you success in achieving the expected results,” Donald Tusk said. “Moldova is in Europe even if it is outside the European borders. The country’s administration showed that it treats the European dream very seriously, while its determination represents a powerful weapon.” The Polish Premier reiterated that Poland will unconditionally support Moldova on the European integration path and will be making effort to help it solve the problems faced, including the Transnistrian dispute, while it will hold the EU presidency. Prime Minister Vlad Filat said in the forum that the assistance offered by the EU is a powerful motivation for the present government for whom European integration is a top priority. “We are aware that the trust put by the EU in Moldova should be proportional to our commitment to implement Europeanization reforms. But when the prospects are clear, even the difficult reforms seem easier,” he stated. The Premier spoke about the reforms aimed at building a state of law, liberalizing the economy and improving the business and investment climate. “I assure you that Moldova has will and power to deal with all the challenges that it will face in the European integration process. We want our people to have a better life,” said Vlad Filat. The EU – Moldova Forum has been organized by the Foreign Policy Association and the Institute for Eastern Studies of Warsaw. The event brought together important businessmen, politicians and diplomats from Moldova and abroad.
