Moldova Business Week 2014 will end with the Vienna Economic Talks Chisinau that will bring together representatives of 400 companies from the EU member states and other countries, according to the Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Pirka Tapiola. The Vienna Economic Talks Chisinau on June 11 and 12 will be attended by the President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso.
Pirka Tapiola said the DCFTA with the European Union, which is to be signed soon, will enable the Moldovan producers to export goods to the EU duty free. For the accord to be implemented, reforms should be done in all the areas of economy. “The signing of this accord does not mean that Moldova should renounce its sovereignty. It will be able to develop the commercial relations with the CIS countries and other states. The quality standards applied in the EU are recognized at world level. Therefore, Moldova will become an attractive destination for investment,” he stated.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar noted that all the events of this week are in fact platforms for dialogue with businessmen, foreign investors, public authorities and representatives of civil society. “We hope that those discussions will help society to realize the changes undergone by Moldova,” he said.
Four financing agreements are to be signed within the Moldova Business Week 2014. One of them refers to the provision of €21 million in budget support by the EU for implementing the actions related to the liberalization of the visa regime for Moldovans. The other three accords envision financing for energy projects (€10m), for the Energy and Biomass Project (€9.46m) and for the project to stimulate rural development (€13m). The money is provided by the EU according to the more for more principle.
