The Cabinet approved the list of waste following the transposition of the EU regulations on environment and waste management to the national legislation, IPN reports.

By the Association Agreement with the EU, Moldova pledged to ensure strict monitoring and correct reporting of data concerning generated waste. Also, Moldova is a party to the Basel Convention and is obliged to monitor and report on the exported waste.

The approved list contains 20 categories of waste, depending on the generation source. Each type is assigned a code to ensure transparency in monitoring and reporting. According to the authorities, the approval of the list will contribute to implementing an integral waste management system, which will have a beneficial impact on the people’s health and welfare.
