The Republic of Moldova will benefit from additional financing of €24.8 million in loans for immunizing the population against COVID-19. For the purpose, the Government approved the ratification of the financing agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the International Development Association concerning the Emergency COVID-19 Response Project – additional financing, IPN reports.

The money will be used to purchase vaccine doses, to invest in cold storage facilities, to develop information systems in healthcare and to provide technical assistance intended for strengthening the capacities for conducting the vaccination process.

The Republic of Moldova will be able to purchase vaccines from different sources, including directly from producers or through the agency of the COVAX Facility and from other states that have additional vaccine stores, taking into account the quality-price ratio, the regulation capacity, the capacity of the nation immunization system and the delivery terms.

The financing agreement with IDA on the implementation of the Emergency COVID-19 Response Project was signed by President Maia Sandu on August 9, 2021.

The agreement implementation deadline is April 30, 2023.
