The Republic of Moldova transposed the best EU practices of promoting green energy and renewable energy. Thus, any investor can access the Moldovan market and each Moldovan can install an electricity generation unit to satisfy the personal consumption needs in the own home or yard, deputy head of the Energy Policy Division of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure Denis Tumuruc stated in the debate “Energy efficiency and renewable sources of energy” that was staged as part of the EU Sustainable Energy Week, IPN reports.
According to Denis Tumuruc, the Aeolian installations and photovoltaic panels are the most appropriate sources of green energy for the Republic of Moldova. The adopted law enables the small investors to go to the National Agency for Energy Regulation and obtain the right to produce green energy, up to 4 MW. As of 2019, this will be possible in the case of large investors as well, which will be able to produce green energy for larger buildings.
UNDP Moldova project manager Dumitru Vasilescu said a project to install photovoltaic panels on the roof of a block of study of the Technical University of Moldova (UTM) to meet the own consumption needs of electrical energy is being implemented. It is planned to install a 1 MW panel that will supply green energy to a block of study and the dorms of the UTM situated nearby. “For us, the universities and large hospitals with big roofs and district hospitals with large energy consumption hold interest,” stated Dumitru Vasilescu.
UTM rector Viorel Bostan said the project is implemented to reduce the university’s energy costs. In the UTM park, there were installed Aeolian turbines, photovoltaic panels that supply power to the park and other consumption networks. “In the Republic of Moldova, both the large turbines and the small ones that are appropriate for rural areas and could become a source that would enable small producers to reduce prices are important,” stated Viorel Bostan.
The debate “Energy efficiency and renewable sources of energy” was organized by the EU Delegation to Moldova within the EU Sustainable Energy Week that is held during June 4-10.
