Moldova boosts wine exports to EU countries

In 11 months of 2007, exports of Moldovan wines and brandy to the European Union countries totalled 13.2 million USD, increasing by 29% as compared to the similar period of the previous year. According to the data of the Agrindustrial Agency “Moldova-Vin”, the total export of Moldovan wine products increased by about 25% compared to the similar period of the previous year. Moldova exported wines and brandy in the amount of about 96 million USD (+ 31%). Production in the amount of 44.6 million USD was exported to Ukraine, to Kazakhstan – in the amount of 16.7 million USD. Big quantities have been exported to Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan and other CIS countries. Moldovan exports to Romania amounted to only 3 million USD as compared to 14 million USD in 2006. Exports to Bulgaria also reduced – down to 1.2 million USD from 62.8 million in 2006. Exports of Moldovan wine products to other countries of the world constituted 2.5 million USD, a 10% increase. According to data recently published by the Russian Federal Service “Rospotrebnadzor", since the resumption of wine exports to Russia 9 Moldovan enterprises delivered on the Russian market about 1.5 million litres of wines and brandy.
