By initialing the Association Agreement at the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius, Moldova becomes a success story of the European Union, while the Moldovan people will soon feel the benefits of coming closer to the EU. By obtaining the initialing of the Association Agreement, Moldova showed that it managed to free itself from the pressure of the eastern domination area. Such statements were made by the leaders of the Pro-European Coalition, who are in Vilnius, during a live video link with the program “Fabrika” of PublikaTV channel, IPN reports.

The leader of the Liberal Democratic Party Vlad Filat said the objective to sign the Association Agreement and the Free Trade Agreement will be achieved by next September, while a visa-free regime will be obtained by the expiration of the mandate of the Council of the EU. “We managed to prove that we are determined to follow the path to European values. We went through many challenges, while the initiating of the Association Agreement is the victory of every citizen apart and a proof that we can achieve everything,” he stated.

The leader of the Liberal reformers Ion Hadarca said the Vilnius EaP Summit is like an exam for the Moldovan government and this event marks a beginning of another quality for the ruling parties and for those who were skeptical about Moldova’s European course. “There were Euroskeptics and Eurooptimists, but we are Eurorealists. We aim to achieve important objectives in justice and other areas before the signing of the Association Agreement so that society sees that the government keeps its promises,” he said.

The chairman of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu underlined the fact that Moldova reached the stage of the initialing of the Association Agreement shows that the country has no other alternative way. The EaP Summit is a moment of great responsibility because its marks the end of a difficult, but very important stage for the Moldovan people.
