The national football team of Moldova can no longer avoid the last place in Group D of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Moldova lost to Ireland 0-2 in Dublin, IPN reports.
Daryl Murphy scored the two goals in the second and 19h minutes. In the last minute, Alexandru Gatcan was sent off and will be unable to play in the October 9 encounter with Austria.
“We started very well the match. Murphy managed to score two superb goals. We expect to have a very interesting duel against Wales,” Ireland manager Martin O'Neill told a news conference.
On October 9, Moldova plays the last match of the qualifying campaign, in Chisinau, against Austria. The match starts at 9:45pm.
