Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Valeriu Cosarciuc signed a cooperation agreement with agricultural economic entities from Moldova and the Italian province of Fermo on February 15. According to the minister, the new agreement aims to attract financial resources from the EU for implementing pilot-projects in agriculture and industry.
“This agreement will help Moldova come closer to the EU. The projects that will be promoted are of great importance to the agricultural sector. There will be set up agrifood centers, packing houses and joint cooperatives with Italian capital in Moldova. We will develop the animal-breeding sector, using Italy's experience, and will strengthen the relations between Italian and Moldova scientific research institutions,” Cosarciuc said.
In a meeting of the delegations, Alberto Feliziani, lawyer and promoter of the agreement, said the accord is designed to support the Moldovan farmers and agricultural companies. “The project proposed by Minister Cosarciuc is ambitious, important and achievable. The small farmers in Moldova deserve more attention,” said Feliziani.
Adolfo Marinangeli, a representative of the administration of Fermo province who is responsible for problems concerning the EU, said he is ready to work with the Moldovan partners and develop possible and imaginary projects that would be financed by the EU or from other foreign sources.
