The Republic of Moldova and Turkey have signed new cooperation documents in a number of areas within the visit paid by Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim to Chisinau, IPN reports.
The sides signed a joint statement on the creation of a Strategic Cooperation Council between the Republic of Moldova and Turkey, the agreement on social security and the administrative arrangement for its implementation. There was also signed the protocol of cooperation between the National Public Broadcaster “Teleradio Moldova” and the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation and the agreement of cooperation between the press agency “Moldpres” of Chisinau and the press agency “Anadolu” of Turkey as well as the memorandum of understanding between organizations for the development of SMEs in the two states.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip said the diplomatic relations between Moldova and Turkey are excellent in all the areas. He noted the €100,000 in financial assistance provided by the Turkish people for alleviating the consequences of the late April snowfalls was transferred to the Ministry of Finance’s accounts on May 5, 2017. “Turkey is a very important strategic partner for the Republic of Moldova. Following the implementation of the Free Trade Agreement with Turkey, the bilateral commercial relations will be extended. There is potential to increase the investments in our country. Also, I accepted the invitation to pay a visit to Turkey in the near future,” stated the Premier.
For his part, Binali Yildirim said that Moldova is a reliable partner even if the two states do not have common borders. “We can increase our investment potential in the Republic of Moldova up to US$ 1 billion. I’m convinced that our entrepreneurs will augment their investments in your economy. After my visit here, in the Republic of Moldova, our relations will develop more harmoniously,” he stated.
Binali Yıldırım is paying an official visit to Moldova on May 5-6 at the invitation of Pavel Filip. This is the first official visit by a Turkish Premier to Chisinau. On May 6, the two Prime Ministers will make a trip to Comrat.
