Moldova and Slovakia sign investment promoting agreement

The business relationship between Moldova and Slovakia will be regulated by a new investment promoting accord which was signed on Monday, April 7, in Chisinau by the Foreign Ministers, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to Moldovan Foreign Minister Andrei Sratan the new accord offers a new economic potential allowing companies to do business both in Moldova and Slovakia. The Slovakian Foreign Minister, Jan Kubis, has appraised the efficient political relationships and stated his country’s intentions to strengthen the cooperation with Moldova in the business sector, too. “We hope good economic contacts will be started. Slovakian people are interested in investing in infrastructure, energy, services and tourism,” said the Slovakian diplomat. Asked about the investment interest for Moldova, Jan Kubis has said the business seeks for solutions where opportunities are. “Moldova aspires to integrate into the European Union, meaning it accepts the established standards,” he underlined, appreciating the Moldovan business climate had improved. The diplomat has also stated Slovakia’s support for speeding up the solution of the Transnistrian conflict and for Moldova’s aspirations of European integration. Asked about Moldova’s arrears in implementing the EU-Moldova Action Plan, Andrei Stratan has said, during three years, the Moldovan authorities have managed to attain the results they wanted. The drawbacks outlined in the European Commission’s report can also be found in other countries’ reports, and also in countries members of the EU. “What is important is to continue the efforts,” the minister said, specifying a new political documents was going to be discussed between Moldova with the EU. Jan Kubis is accompanied by 15 businesspeople attending a forum with potential partners from Moldova.
