The intention to take substantial action in order to remove trade barriers and to create favorable conditions in this regard was confirmed at the meeting of the Moldovan-Russian Intergovernmental Commission, which met on September 18 and 19 in Chișinău.
"The senior officials of the ministries, departments and other executive bodies from the Republic of Moldova and the Russian Federation participated in committee meetings, while relevant experts from Tiraspol were part of the Moldovan delegation", said a Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure press release.
The quoted source stated that the decision to resume the activity of the Commision after a one year break was welcomed at the president and rapporteur level by each delegation. Additionally, the availability of advancing the cooperation to new levels, focused on quality and specific results, was noted .
To date, 169 treaties have been signed between the Republic of Moldova and the Russian Federation in various fields. The volume of foreign trade of the Republic of Moldova with the Russian Federation from January to June 2019 was 462.9 million dollars, which represents a 7.4% increase compared to the same period of 2018. Exports from Moldova to the Russian Federation amount to 114.45 million dollars, while imports equal 348.46 million dollars.
The plenary session of the Commission was chaired by deputy Prime Minister and head of the Moldovan party, Vasilii Sova, and the Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation and President of the Russian party, Dmitry Patrushev.
