The Russian Federation is an important economic partner both of Moldova and Romania and each of the two countries aims to have partnership relations with the Russians in the future. Related statements were made by the Prime Ministers of the two states on Saturday, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“Moldova needs and correctly manages the partnership relations wit Russia, which is an important economic partner of Moldova and a participant in the Transnistrian conflict settlement talks,” Moldovan Premier Vlad Filat said in a news conference held after the joint meeting of the Governments of Romania and Moldova in Iasi.
His Romanian counterpart Mihai-Razvan Ungureanu said that Russia can be important for Romania as an economic partner if it fulfils its commitments. “By our foreign policy program, we aim to improve the relations with such large partners as this country,” he stated, adding that a dialogue is needed with Russia to resolve certain issues.
The two Premiers said that Romania is the second economic partner of Moldova by the volume of imports and exports, but may become the first. After the joint meeting of the executives, the sides signed eight cooperation agreements. The practice of joint meetings of the Governments was a novelty for Moldova.
