Four important documents – the Visa-Free Agreement, the Memorandum of Understanding on Health and Medical Sciences, the Agreement on International Road Traffic, and the Agreement on Cooperation and Mutual Administrative Assistance in Customs Issues – have been signed between Moldova and Georgia, announced Prime Minister Vlad Filat in a news briefing upon his return from Georgia. During his visit, the Moldovan Prime Minister met with Georgian President Mihail Saakashvili, his Georgian counterpart Vano Merabishvili and other officials with whom he discussed bilateral relations as well as steps that need to be taken on the path towards European integration. Georgia will offer Moldova advice on the reform of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, while Moldova will share its experience with implementing the visa liberalization action plan. Vlad Filat added that Moldova will also borrow Georgia's experience with teaching English in schools with the help of volunteers from the United States, United Kingdom and Ireland. At the first Eastern Partnership Summit of European People's Party (EPP) leaders in Batumi, it was agreed to organize a meeting of EPP foreign ministers from both EU and non-EU countries in Chisinau, in September 13, ahead of the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius. “This meeting is going to be as important and relevant of the EU's eastern neighbors as the 2003 Thessaloniki Summit was for the Baltic countries. Until then, we intend to complete negotiations on the Association Agreement and the DCFTA Agreement and finalize the second phase of the visa liberalization Action Plan”, said Vlad Filat. The Prime Minister added that an important event which he attended in Georgia was the IX International Conference “Georgia's European Way – The EU and Its European Neighbors”, where he reiterated Moldova's firm commitment to proceed with reforms. Vlad Filat visited Georgia during July 9-11.
