The relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Czech Republic became stronger and will be further strengthened, the Prime Ministers of the two countries, Dorin Recean and Petr Fiala, stated in a news conference, IPN reports.
Premier Dorin Recean noted that over the past few years the Republic of Moldova benefitted from 50 projects in different areas to the value of €14 million, which were supported by the Czech Republic. New opportunities are now opened up, especially for growing the commercial exchanges in such areas as energy, IT, infrastructure and also in such an important area as smart cities. We already have very good examples of cooperation and I’m confident that we will be able to advance in all the areas,” said the Moldovan official.
For his part, Petr Fiala noted that his country continues supporting the Republic of Moldova on the path to the EU. “We support and appreciate all the Republic of Moldova’s efforts that are aimed at doing reforms,” stated the Czech Premier.
The Czech Republic will support the Republic of Moldova in its efforts to reform the armed forces. “We know that a new air surveillance radar is to be installed in the Republic of Moldova. In August, we will open a new office for a military attaché of the Czech Republic in Moldova so as to extend cooperation in the defense sector. There are many areas in which we can further cooperate. Energy is a sector in which we can extend cooperation. We already have technical companies that are present on the market of the Republic of Moldova and are very active, but there are also other possibilities,” said Petr Fiala.
As to the European integration, the Czech Prime Minster said the reform process that the Republic of Moldova needs to cover is not an easy task. “No one expects that everything will be perfect from the start. 100% success cannot be obtained immediately, but the closer you come to the EU, more concrete steps will have to be taken to do reforms,” stated the Czech official.
Dorin Recean said that the Republic of Moldova undertook to fulfill the nine conditions agreed with the EU. Most of these conditions were fulfilled and they will be fully implemented by the June report of the European Commission. “In parallel, the Republic of Moldova formed 35 groups for adjusting the legislation, the institutions and the norms and for putting into practice these adjustments concerning the 33 chapters of the Community acquis, plus another two chapters regarding economic development and political development, so that in its October report, the Commission recommends switching over to the next stage, which is the accession negotiations with the EU,” stated the Moldovan Premier.
