Moldova is one of the first world countries in terms of the number of inventors per population, deputy chairman of the Agency for Intellectual Property (AGEPI), Ion Daniliuc, stated. On July 1, the Agency registered 13168 inventors who have submitted application forms and received patents in the last few years. The cited source mentions that the real number of Moldovan inventors is much higher, with lots of them being those who got patents during the Soviet period, and others who went abroad. According to the cited source, about 250 inventions per 1 mln inventions worldwide are annually occurring in Moldova. At the same time, out of the total number of inventions, only 5-7% are being implemented in Moldova’s economy, which is similar to the index of implementing the world inventions. Daniliuc says statistics show that only 70 inventions were sold in 2006, with a total value of 30 thousand lei. According to him, many of Moldova’s enterprises are implementing the inventions by Moldovan researchers, without talking about it, as they consider it a commercial secret. Ion Daniliuc is convinced that concomitantly with the implementation of the law on technological-scientific parks and innovating incubators, Moldova’s inventors will get the big opportunity to sell inventions. The technological-scientific park foresees setting up a trade union made up of a number of enterprises that use and apply in practice innovations. The incubators are structures transforming the scientific results into innovations and selling them.
