Moldova advanced best on European integration path among EaP countries, Latvian PM

The Republic of Moldova is regarded as the state that advanced the best in the European integration process among the Eastern Partnership countries and this is a great accomplishment, said Latvian Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis, who is in Moldova on an official visit during February 20-21, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Moldova is making nice progress within the Eastern Partnership Program. We hope that it will manage to complete the talks on the Association Agreement and the Free Trade Agreement. We also hope that Moldova will receive a clear prospect as regards the European integration. This course is beneficial to the Republic of Moldova and the European Union,” said the Latvian official. Valdis Dombrovskis also said that he was aware of the political situation in Moldova and voiced hope that the Government will be able to continue its work and Moldova will advance on the path to European integration. Prime Minister Vlad Filat thanked for the constant support provided by Latvia, saying the relations between Moldova and Latvia are very good. At the Government Building, Valdis Dombrovskis was met with military honors. There were played the anthems of the two countries. This is the first visit to Moldova by a Latvian Premier after an interval of over six years. The official ceremony involved members of the delegations of the Moldovan and Latvian governments.
