The international exhibitions center Moldexpo attracts visitors with wines and cognacs. About 40 wine businesses together with the public celebrate the eighth National Wine Day between October 10 and 11. The holiday is not held in the Great National Assembly Square as the previous years, but it is as magnificent, Info-Prim Neo reports. Minister of Agriculture Valeriu Cosarciuc said that the best winemaking companies and craftsmen are participating in the holiday. Among the participants is the joint company Chateau Vartely SRL, which won the Grand Prize of the eight National Wine Day for special merits in making wines of a high quality and promoting the Moldovan wines and Moldova’s image as wine country abroad. Prime Minister Vlad Filat said that this festival is dedicated first of all to those who contributed directly to the production of the wines – those who transform the grapes into wine products and keep the tradition and value of the Moldovan wine. Asked why the National Wine Day this year is not held in the Great National Assembly Square, Speaker Mihai Ghimpu said that Moldexpo is more suitable for such an event. He also said that the Wine Day should not be regarded as a national holiday of the bout, into which it was transformed by the Communists. The leader of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu said he prefers white wine, but expressed his conviction that all the wines are tasty. The Grand Prize of the last edition of the wine festival was given to Milestii Mici wine company.
