The trade union of IS “MoldATSA” accuses that the company’s director was sentenced under pressure. Valerian Vartic was sentenced to 10 years in jail for “misuse of power.” The sentence was pronounced two days ago on February16, by the Court of Botanica district of Chisinau.
A release aired on Wednesday, February 18, by the union of the company reads that the pressing was exerted by “influent persons, interested in removing Vartic from his position of the company’s manager.” The release gives no names. The signatories mention that they witnessed many endless pressure acts exerted under different forms by different financial and prosecution bodies, who had the goal to intimidate the their management.
Valerian Vartic is accused of going beyond his duties signing a contract, on the basis of which many employees benefited from dentistry services paid by the company. The union leaders remark that this is a fabricated file. “The actions taken by Vartic were focused on improving the employees’ health, and the dentistry services were paid from the account of the net profit of the company, according to law,” reads the release.
Asked by Info-Prim Neo, the convict’s lawyer said that he would sue the Court’s decision at the Appellate Court of Chisinau. The union threatens with protest actions, if the case is not re-examined.
The press service of the General Prosecutor’s Office stated that they do not comment this case.
