The project to modernize the Automated Interbank Payment System of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM) was kicked off. This forms part of the concept to develop the payments sector in Moldova that was approved last year. It is aimed at developing the payment system and at creating modern infrastructure in the field, in line with the needs of individual and corporate consumers, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the Bank.

“The payment system in the Republic of Moldova will switch over to a new development stage. This way, the implementation of new payment instruments will be facilitated, while the operational and liquidity risks will be better managed. We want the innovative payments to become something ordinary in our daily life and the modernization we plan to bring multiple benefits,” said NBM governor Octavian Armașu.

The implementation process will last for 18 months, being divided into four stages. The project will enable to facilitate the movement of economic flows, while the innovative payments sector will have a better capacity for attracting investments and will grow the circulation speed of money in the economy.
