Moldovacompleted the twinning project “Support to implementing the policy on competition and state aid in the Republic of Moldova” that is financed by the European Union. Two model laws have been drafted within this project, namely the Competition Law that is being implemented and the Law on State Aid that will come into force next August,Info-PrimNeo reports. In a news conference held to mark the completion of the project, Competition Council head VioricaCarare said that experts from Romania, Austria and Slovenia had worked in Moldova for 18 months. They created a joint working group and provided support in drafting the two essential laws for the development of the national economy. Austrian Ambassador MichaelSchwarzinger said that Moldovamanaged to work out a model law on competition, while the Austria is very interested in the investments in Moldovaand will continue to provide support to the Moldovan state. He also said that the project implemented in Moldova is the best of all those designed earlier. According to him, the states that offered assistance to Moldova in drafting these laws went through a similar process when joining the European Union. Romania’s Ambassador in Chisinau MariusLazurca stated that the Republic of Moldova managed to lay solid basis in a vital area for the national economy. “Romania constantly supported Moldova in its European integration efforts. This is the direct result of the special relation that we develop with Moldova and surely of our wish to have a stable and productive state in the neighborhood. Therefore, Moldova’s priorities became our priorities and we are decided to intensify cooperation for Moldova’s integration into the EU. The project that is being closed today formed part of an important series of twinning projects financed by the EU, in which Romania acted as a partner,” he stated. The Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova DirkSchuebel said that the implemented project is a successful one. The Competition Council saw the most successful year in its history and this is due to all the persons involved in drafting the two laws. The twinning project “Support to implementing the policy on competition and state aid in the Republic of Moldova” was launched on March 29, 2011 by the National Agency for Competition Protection, which was afterward transformed into the Competition Council.
