Iurie Leanca is a tool in the hands of Vlad Plahotniuc and Vlad Filat for hiding the crimes they commit, said the leader of the People’s Movement “Antimafie”. In a news conference at IPN, Sergiu Mocanu said that if no criminal cases are started against Plahotniuc and Filat during a year, Moldova has no chance to sign the Association Agreement with the EU next autumn.

Sergiu Mocanu said that Prime Minister Iurie Leanca knows the corruption schemes used in Moldova, but prefers to keep silent and to be named Vlad Filat’s friend. “The Leanca Government is only a so-called European shield for the thefts committed by these two mafiots, Plahotniuc and Filat,” he stated.

The leader of “Antimafie” accuses the chairman of the PLDM Vlad Filat and MP Simion Furdui of controlling a scheme for importing consumer goods into Moldova. “Money is extorted annually from economic entities through the Special Missions Division of the Ministry of the Interior, while the corruption schemes are controlled by Deputy Minister Veaceslav Ceban. The criminal scheme helps form one more budget,” said Sergiu Mocanu.

He also said that a criminal case was started against Simion Furdui in 2011, when Plahotniuc accused Filat of being the head of the mafia in Moldova. After the relations between the two improved, the case was closed. But there were kept the testimonies of representatives of economic entities who spoke about the pressure to which they were subject and the recordings of conversations between Vlad Filat and Simion Furdui, where the leader of the PLDM gives instructions how to monitor and to extort money from companies.

According to Sergiu Mocanu, the materials collected during the investigations are used to blackmail economic entities and serve as pretext for opening other criminal cases against those who cooperated with the law enforcement bodies in 2011. “Currently, large supermarket chains are being subject to unexpected inspections and money is extorted from companies for the reason that the goods were imported illegally. All the budget-funded workers from Moldova were affected by the settling of accounts between companies and the Special Missions Division of the Ministry of the Interior,” said the leader of “Antimafie”.

He added that the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology announced a public contest to select the contractor for producing and issuing license plates for motor vehicles. By corrupt schemes, the winner of the contest became a Polish company that, in fact, belongs to Vlad Plahotniuc. Thus, the Democrat controls a very profitable business.
